Jim began his career as tax preparer in 1983, coming from a family of tax preparers. Both of Jim's older brothers started preparing taxes in the 1960's and his oldest brother is an Enrolled Agent. Both his parents were tax preparers as well as his two eldest sisters. In 2005, Jim took over part of his brother Ken Jenks' practice when he retired, expanding his practice to over 400 clients.
In September of 2012, Jim completed the requirements to become an Enrolled Agent and in November was issued his EA credential, allowing him to provide greater taxpayer advocacy and the ability to negotiate with the IRS on behalf of his clients.
Jim specializes in tax preparation for individuals and small businesses, including Sole-Proprietorships and S-Corps.
Jim is an active member of Mission Society of Enrolled Agents and California Society of Enrolled Agents and is currently the Membership Chair for MSEA.
Jim enjoys choral music and has sung professionally with a number of local church choirs and choruses and has performed with choirs throughout Europe, Russia, Mexico and Costa Rica.

Meriel has been with J & M Tax Service since 2006, providing part-time in-office support and return processing. Meriel had her own tax practice for 15 years during the '70's through '90's, and in 2009, after retiring from her job with a local credit union, completed her re-certification to prepare tax returns. Meriel is also and active member of MSEA as a Professional Associate. Her patience and determination ensure that every client is treated with high regard.
In her spare time, Meriel enjoys crocheting, reading and doting over her grandchildren.
